Christmas Carols at Government House

Christmas Carols Displays a larger version of this image in a new browser windowLast Thursday evening (14 Dec) saw Sir Ian and Lady Corder host a group of local pensioners who attend the Russells and the Jubilee day care centres to an evening of Christmas Carols, mince pies, and mulled wine.

Music and singing for the evening was provided by boys from the Elizabeth College Chapel Choir whose repertoire for the evening included both traditional carols and some more unusual and evocative pieces such as 'The Snow' by Elgar.

On completion of their performance the boys joined Government House staff in serving all the visitors with copious home made mince pies (made with Pippa & Sarah's famous zesty orange pastry) and some warming mulled wine.

In closing the evening His Excellency remarked it was one of his favourite Government House events of the year as it meant that Christmas really was just around the corner!
