Healthy Schools Award for La Mare

During their assembly on the morning of Thursday 11^th October, Lady Corder presented La Mare de Carteret High School with their Guernsey Healthy Schools award. It is the first secondary school to achieve the new Guernsey award which has been based on a scheme running successfully in Essex.

The Healthy Schools programme is designed to support and strengthen the schools' PSHCE curriculum and enable schools to audit their practice and celebrate the good work they are doing to support and develop young peoples' health and wellbeing. Healthy Schools also supports Guernsey's Children and Young Peoples' Plan and Healthy Weight Strategy.

The award requires a whole-school approach to be taken, engaging pupils, staff and the community in a united effort.
