Last attendance at the Guernsey States before departure
His Excellency had already addressed the Sark Chief Pleas and the Alderney States and then made his final speech to the Guernsey States prior to his departure from the island later that afternoon.
The speech caused a bit of a stir in the media for a few days as they heard loud and clear what Sir Ian was saying. That Guernsey is a wonderful place and has always been resourceful and imaginative in adapting to change, but that economically challenging times are ahead and we must continue to look ahead and adapt as we can, when we can. We cannot afford to wait until the horse has bolted.
