HMS Charybdis & Limbourne Service and Parade

HMS Charybdis and HMS Limbourne were Royal Navy warships sunk by German torpedo boats off the coast of Brittany on October 23 1943, resulting in the deaths of over 500 men. 21 of those men were washed ashore in Guernsey and a remembrance service has been held at Le Foulon Cemetery every year since 1947.

The weather stayed dry despite some heavy downpours earlier in the day with His Excellency and our new Madame Bailiff attending the parade today to lay wreaths and pay their respects. Two of our new Lieutenant-Governors Cadets also played a part today, Sea Cadet Emilie Waylen and St John Cadet Hannah Falla.
