Schoolchildren from the town of Masnieres, France
Masnieres is a town in France is where the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry held the line for 3 days in 1917, defending the town from the German advance and known as 'Guernsey's Finest Hour'.
The people of the town have never forgotten the sacrifice of the people of Guernsey and a service is held at the memorial in Masnieres every year.
Schoolchildren from Masnieres will visit Government House to hear about how the crown and the Lieutenant-Governor are connected and their role in the Bailiwick. This is part of their cultural exchange programme that includes visits to Victor Hugo's House, the RGLI Museum at Castle Cornet, some German bunkers and Herm Island.
