Visit of French schoolchildren from Masnieres

The Royal Guernsey Light Infantry Charitable Trust had arranged the visit for the young people which included a visit to Government House

A busy week has been arranged for the young people from both primary and secondary schools in Masnieres. The town in France was liberated by the 700 RGLI Men who left the island to fight in the Second World War and although they never returned home, the townspeople of Masnieres have never forgotten what they owed to those men from Guernsey. There is an RGLI memorial in the town and they work hard to maintain the link with Guernsey and to educate the children to understand the sacrifice.
