Volunteering for the Saffery Rotary Walk

Walk day was Saturday June 7th and the weather forecast was appalling! But that makes it every more important that the volunteers manning those checkpoints turn out with smiles on their faces and an encouraging cheer for those who are taking part in the walk, whether as part of a team or the amazing troopers who do the whole thing.

The Saffery Rotary walk raises a huge amount of money for charity and this year was supporting 25 charities and non-profit organisations. They couldn't do it without their sponsors and volunteers so His Excellency and Mrs Cripwell were determined to do their bit and take part.

It poured with rain and blew a gale up at Chouet but nothing would dampen the spirits of the Government House Team. We were determined every walker would receive a "well done" and a big smile and some rousing encouragement. And having got that far, they deserved every bit of it.
